How to Get a Grok Bot Email Address (mail.grokbot.com)

Get a Grok Bot email address at mail.grokbot.com: ask your Bot or use the Email plugin, pick a name, approve. Plus routines, limits, and fixes.

Short answer: you get one address, and claiming it takes four steps.

  1. Open a chat with your Bot and say: "Get yourself an email address."
  2. Tell the Bot which name you want. It checks that the name is free.
  3. Approve the card it shows you. Nothing is claimed until you do.
  4. Your address is now yourname@mail.grokbot.com, and every one of your Bots can use it.

You can't rename or delete the address later, so pick the name carefully. If you use Grok Bot through a Cursor team, a team admin has to turn on Agent Email before you can claim one.

We checked everything here against Cursor's official Grok Bot help pages on Oct 14, 2026. Where the help pages don't confirm something, we left it out.

What the address is and isn't

It's a real address at mail.grokbot.com that your Bots can receive, read, search, and send email from. It belongs to you, not to one Bot, so all of your Bots can use it in your own chats and routines.

What it is not:

  • Not an inbox you scroll through. There's no inbox view and no new-mail notifications. Ask your Bot instead: "What arrived in your inbox today?" Mail from the last minute may not show up yet.
  • Not your Gmail or Outlook. Those are separate plugins. If you've connected one, your Bot asks which account to send from when either could work.
  • Not a team inbox. A Team Bot has no shared team address, and Bots can't use your address in Slack threads or in chats where someone else is talking to the Bot.

Two ways to claim it

Ask your Bot

This is the four-step answer above: ask, name it, approve the card.

Use the Email plugin

  • Desktop: open Connect apps in the sidebar and choose Email.
  • Phone: open Settings > Connect apps > Email.

Under Email address, type a name in Choose a name, then choose Create address. Once it's claimed, the plugin shows your address with a button to copy it.

Name rules

  • Use lowercase letters, digits, dots, hyphens, and underscores.
  • Start and end with a letter or a digit.
  • Keep it to 64 characters or fewer.
  • Avoid reserved words such as support, admin, billing, security, help, info, team, cursor, grok, and xai.

Once an address is claimed, it is never given to anyone else, even after that account is deleted.

Turning on email for teams

For Cursor teams, agent email is off by default. A team admin turns it on in the Cursor dashboard: on the Grok Bot page, under Bot Capabilities, turn on Agent Email. After that, members can claim an address.

If an admin turns agent email off later, Bots lose their email tools and email routines stop running. Mail sent to existing addresses is still received and kept, and members keep their addresses.

Having your Bot act on incoming mail with routines

New mail does not start a chat or wake a Bot on its own. A Bot acts on incoming mail only through a routine you create.

To set one up, ask your Bot in chat, for example: "When an email arrives from billing@example.com, summarize it and tell me." A routine can watch for:

  • Mail from anyone.
  • Mail from specific addresses, such as billing@example.com.
  • Mail from a whole domain, such as *@example.com.

By default, a routine runs only for mail from senders that pass standard email authentication checks. Routines can't filter by subject line. Mail that fails the spam or virus scan never starts a routine.

A routine can read the mail, summarize it, and draft a reply. Anything it wants to send waits as a draft until you press Send. There is no option for unattended sending.

Each routine run spends some of your Grok Bot usage, so a routine that runs often spends more. A narrow sender filter runs less often than "mail from anyone."

What people use it for

The help page lists these uses:

  • Sign-ups. The Bot can sign up for services with its own address and pick up the verification code or link, with your OK.
  • Receipts and reading. It can collect receipts, newsletters, and reports, and summarize them for you.
  • Drafts. It can draft email for you, such as a digest or an update, and draft replies. You approve each one before it sends.
  • Triggers. It can run a routine when email arrives, optionally only from specific senders.

Bot-to-bot email is newer territory. Your own Bots already message each other inside the app, so email matters most when the other Bot belongs to someone else. One early post:

"it won't be long before "have your bot talk to my bot" becomes common!"

A Bot treats email from other people as information, not instructions. A request inside an email never counts as your permission to send.

For templates, see our Grok Bots directory. Office Ops Desk writes digests (its page notes it doesn't triage email), and Researchy is a research and fact-check desk. New to Grok Bot? Start with our beginner's guide, or see what else Grok Bot can do.

Limits

  • One address, with no renaming or deleting. If you delete your Grok Bot account, your mail is deleted and the address is retired.
  • Attachments, both ways: up to 10 per message, 10 MB each, 25 MB total. Incoming extras are skipped. Executable files can't be sent.
  • Recipients: up to 50 per email across To, Cc, and Bcc.
  • Newsletters and first-contact emails go to one recipient per message, with a one-click unsubscribe link.
  • Bounces, unsubscribes, and spam reports stop your Bot from emailing that address, and it tells you who it skipped.
  • New contacts: there are limits on how many new people a Bot can email. The help page doesn't give a number.
  • Spam: mail that fails the spam or virus scan is kept without its body or attachments.

Troubleshooting

If a claim fails, match the message you see:

What you seeWhat to do
Agent email is not enabled for this account. It isn't available on your account yet.
Your team admin has turned off Grok Bot agent email…Ask your admin to turn on Agent Email.
That address is taken…Choose another name. Retrying won't work.
A message about characters, length, or a reserved wordFollow the name rules above.
You can have one agent email address. You already have one. Ask your Bot, or open the Email plugin.
Couldn't create your email address. Try again. (phone)Check the name rules, or try on desktop for the exact reason.
Too many email addresses checked in the last minute.Wait a minute and try again.

If none of these match, contact support with your Cursor account email and the exact message. And if a routine left a draft instead of sending, that's by design: open it and press Send.

FAQ

Is a Grok Bot email address free?

The help page doesn't list a separate price for the address. It's a feature of Grok Bot, which comes with Cursor Pro, Pro+, Ultra, and self-serve Teams, or with a linked SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, SuperGrok Heavy, or X Premium+ account. The work your Bot does with email counts toward your Grok Bot usage.

Can I have more than one Grok Bot email address?

No. You can have one address, and all of your Bots share it in your own chats and routines. If you try to claim a second one, you'll see "You can have one agent email address." A Team Bot doesn't get its own shared team address either, so plan around a single inbox.

Can my Bot send email without asking me?

No. Your Bot shows you the full draft every time, and nothing sends until you press Send. That covers replies and routines too. Telling the Bot in chat, or writing it into a routine, doesn't skip approval, and instructions inside an email the Bot received never count as your permission.

Does new mail wake my Bot?

No. New mail doesn't start a chat or wake a Bot on its own, and the apps don't notify you when mail arrives. If you want something to happen when email arrives, set up a routine that watches for mail from anyone, from specific addresses, or from a whole domain.

Can I change my Grok Bot email address?

No. You can't rename or delete the address once it's claimed, so choose the name carefully. Addresses are also never reissued, even after an account is deleted, so a name you give up can't come back to you. Pick something you're happy to keep for the long run.
